In June of 2012, Marie Jordanou, a single mom of five children, was diagnosed with Stage Four lung cancer that had spread to her brain. She was living on welfare in a wealthy community. She was living in Malibu, and doing everything to provide her children with the benefits of the amazing schools and wonderful community.
Although she’d fought to keep her family together through her struggle, Marie did not know who would take care of her children after she was gone. She did not want them to be without a mother and broken apart in the foster care system.
